Shami’s knee swelled
BCCI said in a statement, “The BCCI medical team at the Center of Excellence is working with Indian fast bowler Mohammed Shami on his recovery and rehab after the surgery on his right heel. Shami has completely recovered from the heel problem. ” BCCI further said, “There is minor swelling in his left knee due to excessive load on the joint due to bowling. “The swelling is at expected levels due to over-bowling over a long period of time.”
Shami needs more time
BCCI said, “Based on the current medical assessment, the BCCI medical team has determined that his knee needs more time to handle the load of bowling. “As a result, he has not been considered fit for the remaining two Test matches of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy.” Shami bowled 43 overs for Bengal in a Ranji Trophy match against Madhya Pradesh in November. After this, he played all nine games of the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy.
Shami will remain under the supervision of the medical team
BCCI said, “Shami will continue to undergo targeted strength and conditioning training under the guidance of the medical staff at the BCCI Center of Excellence and will increase his bowling load to meet the demands of the longest format of the game. His participation in the Vijay Hazare Trophy will depend on the progress of his knee.”
