Shimla weather Update: Cold wave continues amid dry season in Himachal Pradesh. The minimum temperature in many parts of the state remains below zero due to which people are facing extreme cold. The Meteorological Department has issued a cold wave warning for the next six days. Also, the temperature in the state is expected to remain below normal. The minimum temperature was recorded in minus in many cities of the state on Wednesday. At the same time, the nights in the plains are colder than Shimla.
According to the report of Meteorological Center Shimla, the temperature in seven cities of the state remained in minus this morning. These include various areas of Lahaul-Spiti, Kinnaur and Kullu districts. Tabo in Lahaul-Spiti was the coldest place with -7.4 degrees. In the same district, minimum mercury was recorded at -5.3 degree, -5 degree and -1.2 degree Celsius in Kukumseri, Samdho and Seobag respectively. Apart from this, it was -1.9 degree Celsius in Bhuntar of Kullu, -1.8 degree Celsius in Bajuara and -1.4 degree Celsius in Kalpa of Kinnaur. Talking about the plains, 0.1 degree Celsius was recorded in Sundernagar, 0.6 degree in Mandi, 0.9 degree in Barthin, 1.5 degree in Una, 1.7 degree in Hamirpur, 2.6 degree in Kangra and 3 degree Celsius in Bilaspur. In other major cities, minimum mercury was recorded at 1.2 degrees in Manali, 6.4 degrees in Shimla, 5.2 degrees in Kufri, 3.6 degrees in Narkanda, 3.7 degrees Celsius in Bharmour.
Lahaul Spiti, Kinnaur districts are badly affected by cold and the mercury in these areas has dropped well below zero for the last several days. In the higher areas of these districts, springs, drains and other natural water sources have frozen. Apart from this, the plains are also suffering from severe cold.
The state’s average minimum temperature is 2.3 degrees below normal.

Especially in the plains the temperature has become very low. The nights of plain areas like Mandi, Hamirpur and Una are also becoming colder than Shimla.
Meteorological Department issued cold wave alert
The Meteorological Department has issued a cold wave warning for the next six days. Orange alert has been issued in the plains and central areas till 19, 20 and 21 December. In the present days, people should be prepared to face cold wave and severe cold in these areas. At the same time, yellow alert has been issued on 22, 23 and 24 December. There is a possibility of clear weather during these days.
No possibility of rain and snowfall for a week
However, there is no possibility of rain and snowfall in Himachal Pradesh at this time and the cold wave will continue for the next few days. According to the Meteorological Department, there will be no rain and snowfall in the state for the next one week. The weather is likely to remain clear across the state till December 24. This time there will be no snowfall in Shimla and Manali on the eve of Christmas.
