Whatsapp Update: From January 1, 2025, WhatsApp will not be available for some old smartphone users. Meta has announced that WhatsApp support will now end on many older Android devices. This change will especially apply to older smartphones and tablets from popular brands like Samsung, Sony and Motorola.
WhatsApp will no longer work on these devices
This change includes Samsung Galaxy S3, Galaxy Note 2, Galaxy Ace 3, Galaxy S4 Mini, Motorola’s Moto G (1st Gen), Razr HD, Moto E 2014, HTC One G, Nexus 4, G2 Mini, LG L90 and Sony’s Xperia Z, Xperia SP, Xperia T, Xperia V. WhatsApp will no longer run on these devices.
WhatsApp removes support from time to time
WhatsApp aims to provide its users with a better experience, new features and stronger security, but new updates and features are not compatible with the hardware and software of older devices. Therefore, support is removed from time to time.
Will need a new phone
According to WhatsApp, devices running Android 4.0 (KitKat) or older will no longer be supported from January 1, 2025. If your phone is on this list and you want to continue using WhatsApp, you will need to buy a new phone that supports Android KitKat or higher operating system.
