The BCCI Women’s Selection Committee has announced the Indian team for the upcoming ICC Under-19 Women’s T20 World Cup 2025. Nikki Prasad has been appointed as the captain of the team, while Sanika Chalke will be the vice-captain. This tournament will be played in Malaysia from 18 January 2025 to 02 February 2025.
Total 16 teams in 4 group stage matches in Under-19 World Cup
16 teams are participating in the Under-19 World Cup, which are divided into 4 groups, each group consists of 4 teams. India, the defending champions, have been placed in Group A along with hosts Malaysia, West Indies and Sri Lanka.
Byumas Oval in Kuala Lumpur will host the Indian team’s group stage matches. The Indian team will start its campaign against West Indies on 19 January 2025.
Three teams qualify for Super Six
After the conclusion of the group stage fixtures, three teams from each group will qualify for the Super Six.
The 12 teams that qualified for the Super Six have been divided into two groups. Group 1 will include the top three teams from Group A and Group D while Group 2 will include the top three teams from Group B and Group C.
Each team in the Super Six stage will carry forward their wins, points and net run-rate (NRR) secured against their fellow Super Six qualifying teams. Each team will play two games against opponents from their respective groups who finished in different places in the Super Six stage.
The final will be held on 02 February
The top two teams from the two Super Six stage groups will qualify for the semi-finals. The semi-finals will be held on January 31, 2025. The final of the tournament will be held on February 02, 2025.
