Manmohan Singh Funeral: The mortal remains of former Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh have reached Nigambodh Ghat in New Delhi for the last journey. Earlier, the mortal remains of former PM Manmohan Singh were brought from Congress headquarters to Nigam Bodh Ghat. A large number of people participate in his last journey. He died at the age of 92 in AIIMS Hospital, Delhi on Thursday night. Dr. Manmohan Singh served as the Prime Minister of the country for 10 years. His mortal remains were brought to his residence at 3 Motilal Nehru Marg in the early hours of Friday. Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Rahul Gandhi, Home Minister Amit Shah, President Draupadi Murmu and other leaders and family members paid tribute to him there. After this, tribute was paid to him at the Congress headquarters also.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi has canceled the rally to be organized in Delhi’s Japanese Park. Now this rally will be organized on 5th January. The Central Government has announced seven days of national mourning on the death of Dr. Manmohan Singh.
The funeral will be held with state honors.
The last rites of former Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh will be performed with state honors at Nigambodh Ghat. On this occasion, Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla, Home Secretary, Defense Secretary and other senior officials will be present.
CDS and Army Chief will also be involved
CDS and chiefs of the three armies will also be present at Nigambodh Ghat. The mortal remains of Dr. Manmohan Singh are being taken to Nigambodh Ghat through gun carriage, which will take about an hour.
Delhi Traffic Police advisory issued
Delhi Police has issued an advisory for traffic management during the funeral of Dr. Manmohan Singh. Ahead of the funeral to be held at 11:45 am on Saturday, traffic routes will be changed on several roads including Raja Ram Kohli Marg, Rajghat Red Light, Signature Bridge and Yudhishthir Setu.
Traffic restrictions will remain in force from 7 am to 3 pm on many other routes including Ring Road, Nishad Raj Marg, Boulevard Road, SPM Marg, Lothian Road, and Netaji Subhash Marg. The public has been appealed to avoid these areas and immediately report any suspicious object or activity to the police.
