Om Prakash Chautala: Om Prakash Chautala was a well-known name in Haryana politics who passed away some time ago. Om Prakash Chautala may be the only person in Indian politics who passed the 12th examination at the age of 87. Om Prakash Chautala had passed 12th with first division. Om Prakash Chautala had also been the Chief Minister of Haryana state.

Chautala family has had a deep influence in politics

The Chautala family had deep influence not only in the politics of Haryana but across the country. Talking about the political context of Chautala family, Devi Lal took this family forward a lot. Chaudhary Devi Lal was considered the most popular farmer leader of Haryana. Devi Lal, who started his political career from Congress, later formed his own party named INLD and then in 1989, when the Janata Party government was formed, he also became the Deputy Prime Minister of the country. After this, Devi Lal’s younger son Om Prakash Chautala took this family forward and he was the Chief Minister of the state 5 times.

Om Prakash Chautala was thrown out by the family

After becoming the Chief Minister of Haryana, Om Prakash Chautala was once arrested by the police at Delhi Airport. He was accused of smuggling gold and later due to this reason Devi Lal expelled Om Prakash Chautala from the family. However, later again Devi Lal handed over his entire political legacy to Om Prakash Chautala.

Om Prakash Chautala was sentenced to ten years in JBT scam

The politics of farmers and Jats in Haryana and the country revolved around the Devi Lal family. In 2002, during the government of Om Prakash Chautala, farmers were fired upon in which 17 farmers died. This was the same time when Congress was searching for its land in Haryana. In the very next elections, Congress formed the government there and ordered an inquiry into the JBT (Junior Basic Teacher) scam. Om Prakash Chautala was sentenced to 10 years in 2013 in the CBI investigation.
