Political tussle between RJD MLAs over Mahabodhi Temple, politics heated up over corruption allegations

A heated argument has started between two RJD MLAs over the arrangements for the world famous Mahabodhi temple located in Bodh Gaya. Bodhgaya MLA Kumar Sarvjeet has hit back at the corruption allegations made by Makhdumpur MLA Satish Das.

While talking to the media, Kumar Sarvjeet said that it is wrong to defame a world famous place like Mahabodhi Temple. If MLA Satish Das had any problem, he should have told the Chief Minister and not made unrestrained statements in the media. Even a few months ago, Satish Das had made allegations against the temple administration. After which a meeting was held with the District Magistrate, BTMC members and other officials.

He said that his allegations were found to be false. He stressed that it is everyone’s responsibility to maintain the dignity of the temple. One should avoid bringing it in the market. I and my family have been in the politics of Bodhgaya since the 90s. I am familiar with every activity of the temple. Satish is my younger brother. When I meet him, I will ask him what his problem is.

Bodh Gaya Temple Management Committee had made serious allegations

Let us tell you that Makhdumpur MLA Satish Das had made serious allegations of corruption on BTMC (Bodh Gaya Temple Management Committee). He claimed that the DM, BTMC secretary, members and even a photographer were involved in corruption. However, Satish Das did not make public any evidence to support his allegations. He said that he would hand over the evidence to the Chief Minister.

The controversy over Satish Das’s Mahabodhi temple is showing cracks within the RJD. Many people say that the allegation is politically motivated. There are indeed irregularities in the functioning of BTMC.
