Third test draw due to bad light, Indian bowlers made a comeback with brilliant bowling.

IND vs AUS, 3rd Test, Day 5: The third match of Border Gavaskar Trophy between India and Australia is being played at Gabba Ground, Brisbane. In this match affected by continuous rain, the fifth and last day of play is being played today on Wednesday. Australia had scored 445 runs in its first innings. Whereas Team India scored 260 runs in the first innings thanks to the half-centuries of KL Rahul, Ravindra Jadeja and the fighting innings of Akashdeep. Akashdeep and Bumrah played a big role in avoiding the follow-on for India. Australia got a lead of 185 runs on the basis of first innings. But in the second innings, Indian bowlers showed tremendous performance and dismissed 7 of their batsmen for 89 runs only. Chasing the target of 275 runs, India had scored 8 runs in 2.1 overs in the second innings when the game was stopped due to bad light. The match was declared a draw due to bad weather for about an hour.

Indian bowlers destroyed Australia’s second innings

After the end of the Indian innings, rain once again caused disruption. After the rain stopped, Australia started the second innings. But the Kangaroo batsmen had no answer to Bumrah’s brilliant bowling. Openers Usman Khawaja and Marnus Labuschagne were dismissed for only 16 runs. Usman Khawaja returned to the pavilion after scoring 8 runs and Marnus 1 run. At the score of 16 runs, Akashdeep also showed his magic and got opener Nathan McSweeney caught out by Rishabh Pant. Mitchell Marsh, who came to bat after McSweeney’s dismissal, also scored 2 runs and was caught out by Rishabh on the ball of Akashdeep.

First innings centurion Steve Smith also could not walk and Mohammad Siraj got him caught behind the wicket on his fast ball. Smith was out for 33 runs as the fifth wicket. Travis Head and Alex Carey made a partnership of 27 runs for the 6th wicket. But today on Wednesday, Indian bowlers were seen in their full form. Siraj also gave the sixth blow to Australia by dismissing Travis Head. Travis was trying to hit Siraj’s ball, but the ball went straight above his head taking the leading edge and once again Rishabh Pant made no mistake. Travis was out after scoring 17 runs on 19 balls. Australian captain Pat Cummins tried to play a fast innings as soon as he arrived and scored 22 runs in 10 balls with the help of 2 fours and 2 sixes. During one such shot, Cummins got caught by KL Rahul on the ball of Jasprit Bumrah. Australia declared its innings after scoring 89 runs at the loss of 7 wickets in 18 overs.

India had to score 275 runs to win

India had to score 275 runs to win in the second innings. Opening batsmen KL Rahul and Yashasvi Jaiswal came to the crease. On the fifth day of the match, the match was stopped due to bad light on the field when India had scored 8 runs in 2.1 overs. Due to bad weather for two continuous hours, this match was declared a draw.

After the first day was washed out by rain, India won the toss and decided to bowl on the second day. Thanks to the brilliant centuries of Travis Head and Steve Smith and the fifty of Alex Carey, Australia registered 445 runs on the score board in the first innings. The top order of the Rohit Sharma-led Indian team once again faltered. Yashasvi Jaiswal, Shubman Gill, Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma were out after scoring within 10 runs. KL Rahul, Ravindra Jadeja took India’s score beyond 200, but Team India, which was on the verge of follow-on, was saved by Jasprit Bumrah and Akashdeep by making a partnership of 43 runs for the tenth wicket. India had scored 260 runs in the first innings.
