Former Prime Minister Manmohan Singh passed away at the age of 92. He breathed his last late Thursday evening during treatment at Delhi AIIMS. Leaders of many parties including Congress have expressed grief over the demise of Manmohan Singh.

Union Minister Nitin Gadkari said, “Extremely saddened to hear the news of the demise of former Prime Minister of the country Dr. Manmohan Singh ji. As the Finance Minister of the country, he worked to give a new direction to India’s economy. Apart from being highly educated, his personality was also humble, polite, sensitive and dedicated towards the country. As BJP President, I got the opportunity to talk to him many times. He always had the thought of taking the country forward. This country can never forget Dr. Manmohan Singh ji. May God grant peace to the departed soul and strength to the family. Om Shanti”

Bihar CM Nitish Kumar wrote, “The demise of former Prime Minister of the country Dr. Manmohan Singh is sad. He was an efficient politician and economist. Under his leadership, India’s economy got a new direction. The demise of Dr. Manmohan Singh ji is an irreparable loss for Indian politics. We pray to God for eternal peace of the departed soul.”

Expressing grief over the demise of the former PM, Samajwadi Party President wrote, “The demise of former Prime Minister Manmohan Singh, a great economist with a truthful and gentle personality, is an international irreparable loss.”

PDP leader Iltija Mufti wrote on social media, “India has lost a true gem today with the demise of Manmohan Singh ji. He came from a humble background, yet he became a great politician and the chief architect of our country’s economic reforms. His greatest contribution was the introduction of government welfare schemes that transformed the lives of millions of economically marginalized Indians. Deepest condolences to his wife and daughters.”

Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) Rajya Sabha MP Swati Maliwal wrote, “Deeply saddened by the demise of Dr. Manmohan Singh ji, a politician of unmatched intelligence and humility. His demise is a big loss for the country. I pray for his soul to rest in peace and strength to his loved ones. Om Shanti.”

Former Governor of Odisha Raghuvar Das posted on social media and wrote, “Received the sad news of the demise of former Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh ji. May Mahaprabhu Jagannath ji give place to the departed soul in his own abode. I express my deepest condolences to his family.”

Congress MP Kumari Shailaja wrote on Twitter, “I am deeply saddened by the news of the demise of former Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh ji. His departure is an irreparable loss for the entire country, but for me it is like the loss of an elder and guide of the family. His contribution to India’s economic reforms is historic. Under his leadership, India took the path of liberalization, globalization and economic development, which positively impacted the lives of millions of Indians. For me, it was not only a privilege to work with him, but also an opportunity to learn from him every moment. His example of simplicity, patience and selfless service will always inspire. The country will always remember his contribution. May God give peace to the departed soul. Humble tribute.”

Leader of Opposition in Punjab Assembly and Congress leader Pratap Singh Bajwa wrote on ‘X’, “Dr. Manmohan Singh, the architect of India’s economic reforms and one of the most humble and distinguished leaders of our country, has left us. A man of few words but immense knowledge, his leadership led India through significant challenges with grace and integrity. His unwavering commitment to civil discourse and democratic values and his contribution to India’s progress will always be remembered. Rest in peace, sir. The nation mourns the demise of a true statesman and a gentle giant of Indian politics.”

AAP Rajya Sabha MP Raghav Chadha wrote on An Oxford-educated economist, he led India’s 1991 economic reforms and as Prime Minister led the nation with quiet determination, proving that intelligence and integrity could bring about transformational change. I join the nation in mourning the demise of one of our most distinguished politicians. His legacy will live on forever and inspire generations to come.”
