Manmohan Singh Last speech: When Dr. Manmohan Singh was stepping down from the post of Prime Minister in 2014, he had held a press conference before that. In which he said that his leadership is not weak and history will be kind to him. He had said, “I do not believe that I have been a weak Prime Minister. I honestly believe that history will be kinder to me than the contemporary media or the opposition in Parliament. I have tried my best amidst political compulsions. I have done as much as I could according to the circumstances. It is for history to decide what I have done or not done.
When BJP accused Dr. Manmohan Singh of running a government surrounded by corruption and called him ‘Manmohan Singh’, then Manmohan Singh had said, “My silence is better than a thousand answers.” Explaining his silence on the coal scam, he had said, “My general practice is that I do not respond to criticism leveled against me. My philosophy has been that my silence is better than thousands of answers.”
